Ginger Snaps

These are chewy, sweet cookies from a recipe of Gail’s (so I can’t take credit for this one!)

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C Crisco – using another shortening will alter the consistency
  • 1 C white sugar
  • 1/4 C molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 C flour
  • 2 t baking soda
  • 1 t cinnamon (ground)
  • 1 t ginger (ground)
  • 1 t cloves (ground)
  • Extra white granulated sugar (2/3 C approx)

Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • (optional) scooper/baller (#70)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Mix ingredients well.

Form into small balls (3/4″) and roll each ball in granulated sugar.

Bake for 10-12 minutes (less time makes them chewier).
